first off let me introduce myself as being new here and apoligize if this is the wrong area. however! i have a fresh hatched bamboo shark i hatched two out about a week apart, one is eating wonderfully. one however sadly is not tried mysis tried clams tried the garlic treatment. all the other sharks i have ever hatched have taken to mysis like its the best thing on earth... this lil guy refuses! how and what can i do im at the end here what can i do ?

well ive never had one but ive always read they are not at all freshwater and only tolerate those conditions....and youll probably hear the same from other ppl

it's not uncommon for newly hatched pups to take up to three weeks to start feeding. your shark still has some yolk in it to feed on. try smelt or squid.

yes freshly hatched god if they were in fresh water thay would be dead they are in a salt tank just freshly hatched need more explanations IM me or something

oh did try squid to could not get ahold of smelt however is 3 weeks a time that it could still have yolk in him seems awedull long to me

Try some fresh live blood worms, not sure where you would get them in OK. (I'm not talking about the ones you buy for fish food) I can buy them here as live bait, the closest thing you can get inland would be earth worms. The electrochemical trace of live worms might get him to feed. I would try small red worms, maybe 1" worms or smaller if you can get them.

Moved. You'll have better answers here as Zoodiver and a few others already have experiences with sharks.:)

First - just because a bamboo shark may last 3 weeks without eating - doesn't mean that you need to wait that long before feeing it. You need to get the pup to eating As Soon As Possible.

Mysis shrimp, squid, and clams are fine choices. But also so are fresh fish(saltwater), crab, and fresh shrimp. The feed item should be very finely diced up - so the shark can eat it. Place food directly in front of the shark's nose- so the shark doesn't have to hunt for it.

Note - some sharks seem to prefer one food over another - especially in the beginning.

Tell us more about the set up. Are they all in together? Water temp? pH?

Usually pups take awhile to eat. Just prior to hatching, they quickly absorb the remainder of the yolk sac. With that inside them, they don't eat because they have no nutritional needs yet. Can you get live mysis or other small live shrimp?
