As safe as feeding any other raw meat. There is always a possibility of parasites. Freezing the clam meat first will make it safer. I love clams I'm sure your p's will too!
haha i agree with both:grinno:

Yeah its cool to share a snack with your piranha.tilapia was on menu last night for everyone here.fish, parrots n me! I'm not tryn todays meal of krill,n silversides although they do smell like sardines!hmm I need a cracker.Lmao

Clams are good to feed. Rince them under warm water first. And they are kind of messy to feed.

I used to buy canned clams from the supermarket. They are only a dollar thirty or so and my fish loved them. I would strain them, then put them in a container for storage in the freezer. Works great and is pretty cheap. Catfish go nuts for them.

clam is extremely high in Thiaminase just like goldfish but i doubt you'd be feeding them soley shellfish so it doesn't matter.

^ ah yes it does. But if fed as a treat it realy brings out the color in the fish. Nice catch ballin I forgot bout that. As for cand clams I wuldnt feed that as there are a lot of diffrent preservatives in them and may be harmful to your fish.

Feeding cooked food is generally not the best for fish imo, but people do it and I have a friend whose turtle goes crazy for imitation crabmeat and he's doing fine. I never feed my fish cooked meat, though.

well...they dont eat it anyways...i drop it in the tank and they just pick at it a little while swimming in place staring at me like im stupid lol
