I bought fresh shrimp, scallops, tuna and nori to make fresh frozen food for my new world cichlids. I've deveined the shrimp, but my question is, do I leave the shell, legs and tail on, or remove them? Raw, they are quite soft, and I imagine they have some nutrition. My worry is, the fish won't eat those parts and they will foul my tanks.

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. The nori should provide enough fiber... Plus, I feed them a variety of NLS pellets.

One tank has a Red Devil (Midas. Hybrid. Whatever), a Jack Dempsey, and a couple of convicts. The other tank has an Oscar, three Red Head Tapajos eartheaters, five silver dollar, and a Pleco.

None of those fish are really large enough to consume lots of shell bits with out worry of internal damage, at least to me. The last fish I fed shrimp with shell to, was my 22" silver arowana. The shell is very nutritious though. It can really help enhance the reds of fish. If you want to add some of that to their diet, use frozen whole krill.

Yeah, I just recently started using frozen whole krill sometimes and it has been going well. My very picky fire eels actually eat it. It's really nice to see them eating something other than just bloodworms. Lol
