In My Aquarium
I was thinking of getting skimmer clams from a boat that catches them off the beach in Long Island the thing is that they say they are not for human consumption and sold as bait.I by from this boat when I need bait and I see them shucking them at the dock and they just rinse with salt water to clean sand and then put it in a bucket for $18 bucks.I do not think that it would be bad for my fish. as the fish in the ocean eat them so I would think that they would be OK for my fish.I tried cherry stone clams for my ray,but my greedy red tail Guaramie was eating all of them before she had a chance to get it,so I figured that if I add more clam at feeding the ray would get plenty. What do you think about my Idea. The clam looks good enough to eat nice and pink

They're fine for your fish as well as eating them yourself. While cooking most clams just until their shells open, skimmers require a minimum of 6 minutes of cooking to make them safe for human consumption. This species has a tougher meat than other locally available species. They're better if used in seafood stews and chowders.
