Fresh water Frogfish and Black Grouper

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you mean the Epinephelus summana from SE Asia? I don't know anything about them except that they look like great fish and are brackish to marine fish that get to 21" long, the other 2 fish listed as black groupers are larger 60-65" and fully marine.

The FW frogfish is also called FW lionfish and FW stonefish (Bratachus trispinosus), it has a painful sting and is highly carnivorous, gets to a max of 12", and is brackish water. Here is a care sheet, http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Oddball, Stonefish.htm

you're talking about the stone fish?

I think the only one that's pure freshwater is from the Amazon and it's rarely imported... so the ones available are actually brackish. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.

he's one step ahead all that replied, he's referring to antennarious biocellatus, which occurs in all s.e. asia, the ones caught in new guinea and some other areas are found in pure freshwater, its actually an angler fish with bright orange, yellow or black colours! imagine that....

first pic is the brackish one, and the second pic is a freshwater, t.amazonica. However the one in the first picture a lot of people seem to think its freshwater so i'm unsure. they sell them here http://www.petsolutions.com/Freshwater+Lionfish-I-68200-I-C-3-C-.aspx
This is the frogfish im talking...
