fresh water moray eel

Where from?

Question is- IS it really a FW one? There's only 1 species I'd call FW and they aren't cheap, and aren't easy to come by.

Yup - Just as I thought, NOT a true FW eel. G. Tile needs salt when big....

Might be able to get him up to 2' before health starts slowly going down hill from lack of salt. Only way I could ever get them big and keep them long term was straight salt, and given what salt costs I'd much rather keep real saltwater eels.

The REAL FW ones are Gymnothorax Polyuranadon - Only seen them offered by Rare Fish the top vendor down in the marketplace section. Well worth the money in my opinion. Just choose tank mates carefully. These lil guys are very delicate when small.

thanks bro definitely appreciate the help do you know how much the true fresh water moray eel runs for??

Guessing $125/eel and $75 or so in shipping.......

IF they're available.

I think you'd be absolutely correct with your answer dbjunkie. Aquabid has some listed on the " all other fish " page . Usually , like you said , they are about 125.00 to 175.00 depending on size. Very cool fish.

check with rarefish (fugupuff) for the true 100% freshwater moray eels. Gymnothorax P.
Better colors than the G tile too, I love mine.

I saw some at petco they were being kept in fresh water but they looked like they had a hard time breathing. Was told they were snowflake eels but they were maroon and white.

I have a freshwater moray eel!! Got it from jack pets.. It is supposed to be brackish water but I just use a tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons to help my freshwater. I have had it for 3 months and is around 18 inches long!! Very awesome. They call it a snowflake moray eel.
