fresh water skimmer box

Hopefully this will reach my monsterfishkeepers comrades in the form of help.
I've put toghether my 15 gal sump, 5 gallon bucket trickle filter.Quiet One (1)2200 return pump 350gph. Tubes connected to return pump. I built an skimmerless box out of 2 Lee's speciman containers.I used 1 1/2 plumbing which i think is too wide. Since i cannot find U-tubes in my area, i decided to use cpvc pipe as my siphon tube. Anyway i can't get the siphon going. It'l start but won't proceed to overflow into the plumbing... Also, in case this dosen't workout, I'd like to make a skimmerbox out of another lee container. I'm noy realy good with all this measuring #$@% so please keep it simple.

We could help you better with some pictures. With out seeing your set-up, it sounds like you might have a slight leak on your PVC fitting which might be causing the siphon to fail. I would give the siphon section of the piping a pressure test, if possible.
