what about as a juvi? and how fast do they grow?

They don't grow at rates that are too alarming, but it is much better to simply get a tank that will accommodate the adult size now. If you absolutely had to I would say in a special circumstance where you know, not think but are absolutely certain that you will, you could wait a bit to get a new tank. I wouldn't be comfortable with waiting even a single year, but I'm sure some people would disagree with me.

Short and simple- just get the bigger tank. If you can't afford it, save. If you can't wait and are sure that you will go bigger soon, be damn sure that you can and then sleep on it.

x2, or, like abortedsoul said, get a bigger tank first unless you are 100% sure that you'll be getting a bigger tank within a year. A full grown retic, 14" disc plus 18" tail isnt gunna fit a 150.

hmm but that is not happening in a year ;) a 150 is a fine grow out if he keeps his water pristine...

:iagree:

i have a brown ray in a 150 for now its 72x20x24 ( i will be upgrading soon )
got hime in july at 5inch disk now at 7inch
so ya a 150 is good for a start, but you WILL need to upgrade with any type of ray.
