For my mono can I slowly add salt to make the FW its in brakish and eventually salt. How much salt should I add per gallon How long should I wait before adding amounts? (Which is better?) Also can a cray take brakish or should I move him out?
Sorry for all the questions. Im new at this.

1) How big is your tank?
2) What type of cray is it?
3) What is you SG currently, I'm assuming 1.000 (pure water)
4) Do you own a hydometer? If not, get one. I prefer the floating ones over the swing arms but I use both.
5) What type of salt do you plan to use? It has to be marine salt, not aquarium salt.

Raise your SG by .001 per week and check it with your hydrometer. To figure out how much salt you need to add, I need to know your tank size and what not. I hope this helps, PM me with any questions, or just send me the mono and I will take care of it. It would fit in nicely with my community.

I bought a mono and a scat in July at the same size. The Scat grew twice as fast, and stopped being shy. The mono went from agro to passive and died :(

The cray is a red swamp cray..I think.Tank is now a 50. Im able to upgrade if need be. Also SG means...?I don't currently have a hygrometr but am getting one tomorrow. Im using the Oceanic natrual sea salt mix.
Would mixing a puffer in there be out of the question? I can remove the cray...

The cray might be toast if you put the puffer in, mine have killed 4 big ones this week but the smallest one has survived, they are red swamp crays in SG (specific gravity) of 1.010.

I would upgrade to a bigger tank.

What type of mono is it? Sebae or argentus?

Make sure you get a hyDrometer, not a hyGrometer

HyGrometers measure humidity, hyDrometers measure salinty!

So should I keep the cray in brakish? The mono is a sebae. Also do normal filters work in brakish?:D

so sorry lame post yet we all need good teaching

it takes less than 15 min to make a mono from fresh to salt

So should i put 50% SW in? Would that work? No special equpiment? Would a Green spoted or a figure eight puffer work with him? what about a snowflake moray?:) I can move the cray out. =)
