So I know they exist, but is that something you can put in your tank?
My reef is crawling with amphipods and they make an excellent food source for fish. It would be nice to try that in a freshwater environment.

Are you referring to scuds? Cause you can definitely keep them and fish love to eat them.

Yep, that would be it. Any idea where I could get them?

I'm also very interested in this topic and your experirences...

Would these be better or easier than Cherry or Crystal Shrimp as clean up & food for Cichlids? What are pros & cons for each in comparison to one another?

I used to raise scuds in sumps and rain barrels.
Mine came from a culture sold at one of my aquarium club meetings, but I'm sure there are on-line vendors.
And they are found in freshwater lakes and streams everywhere, I could easily turn over a rock in lake Michigan and find them

Many other shrimp are more common, easier to get these days, easily raised in sumps and refugiums, and serve the same purpose.

Deadeye Deadeye Goliad farms in Texas usually has them but sadly they are closed right now.
I don’t know if you follow them or not, they just lost about half their stock of fish to the winter weather and power outages.
Maybe they will get going again soon.

You can find them on Aquabid from time to time from a few different people on there, last time I checked.

Just finished watching - very informative
I’ll probably order some in a couple of weeks, once I get everything else in the tank ready. Hopefully they don’t destroy my plants (the puffers will probably keep them in check lol)

They don't tend to eat live healthy plants. I've had them and hoped to breed them but underestimated the the hunting prowess of my fish and apparently their tastiness. Got mine from goliad also. It's a terrible thing that happened down there. I hope they recover I can't watch the videos so sad. Such a cool place.
