Uhh...how about takin this to a different forum...unless you change your mind and decide to get a pike cichlid instead...much more enjoyable anyway! 
they eat small stuff like guppies. Anything that doesn't fit in their mouth is ignored, unless its aggressive whereupoon they are bullied. Falcatus is the most common specie and the one you'll almost certainly obtain, they grow to be about 6". They seem to do well in groups. Look into a 75g or larger if you plan to get one.
Great info P45. As for me, I am not sure if they could be trained to eat prepared food. I've had one ages ago and all it ate are feeder guppies, but they are lightning fast. They look at the prey, focus on it, and bam...gone. Fun fish, but troublesome for me because I always had to buy it feeders. Look into how you could train it to eat pellets...
I have 4 feeding videos of acestros in action. 3 are of a single juvenile acestro taking fathead minnows, the last is an adult group fed a larger unknown fish. If you would install MSN messenger, Yahoo messenger, or AOL messenger, I could send them to you directly.
they are awesome fish. I've got mine about 2 months ago it was 3" and it's already nearly doubled it's size sence.(I've seen some at my LFS nearly 9 or 10"!)he eats rosies like snacks and on occasion when i can't locate other food I give him gold fish. very fast attackers. and they won't bother other tank mates of the same size. 
I think a tank of at least 125 would be needed to house full grown specimens.
oh and these fish are quite fragile. If you get them shipped to you, take special care when acclimating it to his new home.
