I found a freshwater blenny for sale (2 actually), does anyone know anything about them or have any type of experience with one?
I'll post a picture so that the fish in question can still be seen long after they're bought.

Apparently if I post a thread using a computer while on probation then it won't show up on my phone even if I'm logged in. I'm assuming vice versa is true. I'll post the picture once this thread gets approved I guess.

I’ve never heard of them or seen them before. Very cute little guys!
Kinda hefty prices on their fish though.

There is one blenny that’s freshwater. From Africa but it does seem to be in contact with brackish water. It could be salaria fluviatilis.

fugupuff fugupuff I figured he might be interested in potentially bringing in this species.

Gourami Swami Gourami Swami I’m glad you’ll look into it, the moment I saw this fish I stopped and knew I had to share it. This is something special and I believe that it potentially has a place in the hobby. I say, let’s get a list of people who are interested in this fish and then ask wes if he can bring them in. We know the site that is selling them, wes could contact them and ask where they got the 2 from and do the same (hypothetically speaking of course as nothing is guaranteed to go as planned). After the people get their fish and figure out what their care is (possibly through trial and error) then they could start to look into breeding them then distributing the young fish (after figuring out how to keep the fry alive) to other people who want to try to breed them. Repeat the cycle until they’re “common” (I use that word lightly).

I fully understand what I said above would take years if not decades and may not even happen but I wanted to put the idea (crazy as it is) out there.

I believe a shipment has been imported recently because they have been popping up everywhere. Some places have them listed as omobranchus fasciolatoceps but that appears to be a different marine species. It appears this species has yet to be described by science.

Also you are shopping at the wrong place, near me they are $40.

I can’t explain the cost difference but I do know that for a fish such as this one I personally can justify the price.

I always thought blennys were just s/w fish too... if they do have a f/w blenny that would be very interesting indeed...

Just found this thread about someone who bought a couple of these blennies, although this was in Singapore. They said they were fin nippers.

It seems like they would be really interesting to keep; a mix between a goby and a normal fish, maybe a more personable goby. They would definitely have some unique behaviors that aren't seen in gobies.
