I bought this puffer from a pet shop and they said it was brackish (I bought four of these guys), all of them died and turned black from stress and died. Can someone id these guys and from what waters do they belong?

arothron manilensis, generally a salt water fish, sometimes found in brackish as babies. some stores will sell them in light brackish water, and not acclimate them properly and they live only a few days, long enough for them to be sold.
Poor fellas... What conditions were you keeping them in? What size tank? Was it cycled?
Not really a good idea buying 4 of something you really don't know what they are or how large they get or what conditions they prefer.

They were in my 50g (vacant again), I put them in a brackish condition and yes it was cycled.
I really want to have a pufferfish coz i love oddballs/exotic fishes. But the LFS (mostly the suppliers/importer) here in the philippines doesn't want to get freshwater puffers (even if its brackish) which pisses me off. All I want is some dwarf puffers, thats all I ask (kinda desperate here).

Just keep looking, you'll find something eventually. Does anyone ship to your island or do you have a friend here that would? Check my pufferforum.

Well, depends on my budget. I'm not rich, I'm just a person who loves exotic fishes.
yup it may be cheap over here in the US for a couple of dwarf puffers....but damn it sure is way way expensive to ship it to a hella of a far place like the Philippines.....if you get each for 2.99....each....and get about 10 or so.......its like $20-$25 plus your far away shipping with heat packs and air disk for it.....will cost ya alot for the whole shipping trip.
