Freshwater clam??????

I just found this filter feeder and thought that it was the coolest thing ever. Do you think it would be possible in a 55 gallon with 2 bichirs? It buries itself, so I can't imagine the bichir would try very hard to eat it.

lol I was just looking at that last night... but yea, i just read up a little bit on them and I haven't found any contraindications in keeping the clams with a bichir... Let us know how that goes

I read a little bit on a planted tank forum and found out that if your water is getting that greenish tint, they will clear it up very effectively, but once it is clear, you may have to feed them.
So I guess my inexperienced advice is not to get 24 of them, keep it minimal. Otherwise, they may die from lack of food.
I would imagine that a couple of them would survive fine though without any assistance...

I would be safe and say thats a no go. I am saying this from experience my bichir are only 12in and they have eaten 3 craw dads, lots of expensive fish, and a small lobster. I wouldnt put it past them so....

they'll rot in your sump.. which wouldnt be good.

hmm i see well i guess no clams for my system haha thought it would be a good idea and kinda kool too
