as title says? was thinking might look kinda need to have 6 or so on the bottom for something different. i know they filter fedd but what kind of feeding would they require or are they pretty selfsuffitant?

dont really know much about them but id say if your catching them from the wild put them in a qt tank or something for a while with nice fresh clean water so they dont release the pollutants into tank. hope i was some kinda help like ur avatar, saw it on t shirt hell

I wouldn't keep them with fish...When they breed the babies attach to the gills of the fishes in the tank. They are a good treat for loaches though...lol

think my fahaka would eat them? if i go get wild ones they are usually good sized, like you would buy to eat size.

fahaka will eat them. still not a good idea because of parasitic offspring, and possible diseases.

Check Indiana Fishing Regulations first before taking them out of the wild.

Mussels
It is illegal to collect or take live or dead mussel shells from
public waters. A ban on harvesting shells has been in effect since
1991 to protect against a rapid decrease in the abundance and
distribution of mussels. Please do not disturb living mussels or
take dead shells. (http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/fish/fishng/2008_Rec_Fish_Guide_hi.pdf)

Don't want to hear of anyone getting into trouble. I ordered some from carolina.com and posted the packing slip to prove they are not Indiana wild caught. I paid $25.25 for 12 plus tax and shipping.

I threw a few lake clams in my tank before and they survived for awhile, I fed the tank like normal then after a really long time they just kinda died off.

i bet they reAlly degraded water quality? we use to grab them out as kids a keep in buckets, when thay died off they stunck to high heavens lol

I have one right at the front of my tank. He opens and closes throughout the day. I enjoy watching him. I don't do anything to feed them. The lfs said if your tank is 6+ months old then they will get all they need out of the water column. It's fun to watch them burry in the substrate when you move them.

i'm thinkin i might crab a couple, once waether gets above freezing:nilly: i think they would add something to the look of my tank
