i havent seen any threads on freshwater crabs yet. are they common? are they rare? does anybody have them? does anybody not care about them? my lfs has TONS and TONS of them, along with blue crays and another species of cray, not really sure, quite common

They are rare where I am from. I have only seen fidler crabs mislabled as fresh water crabs (actually brackish from what I have read). I have considered buying them as a "tank-mate" for my puffer.:grinno:

we can get fiddler and red claws all day long here. my fahaka loves em, there GRRRRRREEAAT!

I have one crab. Not sure what kind it is. It was labeled a fidler but it is definitely not a fidler crab. I have had him with cichlids and platys with no problems. He hides most of the day until night time and then comes out looking for food. He's a cool little guy. A fun addition to the tank for sure.
