Hi there
I don't suppose anyone can please please help me on my quest to to bulid the perfect aquarium.

I have so far my new 150 gal aquarium which got delivered on monday whoopie!!! and i'm getting a 6" arowana and a 4" zebra shovelnose catfish.

Now so far thats my idea and i'd like to try and stick with it i'm looking for some sort of freshwater eel to go in with these fish i'd like it to be a juvinile like the others so i can grow them all together but then i also would like it to be a nice size to add to the effect but not too over powering so that it attacks the other fish does anyone have any recomendations???

I thought about a fire eel but i then realized it would be fine for a while then it would eventually become shovelnose fodder.

If anyone can recomend any other tank mates that can live with these fish in peace please feel free to inform.

many thanks

Danny

Fire eels get big enough to hold there own there

call me the devil's advocate, but wouldn't an eel seem like a pasta noodle to the aro?

eh.... for reasons not fully understood, i think we've all experienced setups in which readily-digestible fish still manage to live with big fish, and so the proponents of the fire eel must feel from experience that this will work.

How Big? I believe the shovelnose will eventually out grow them all.
Fire eel? sure. I think he'd only be food for your Aro if you baught a very small fire eel.
It all boils down to how big everybody is in relation to each other, I'd keep watch to see who's growing bigger faster. I'd think the catfish would have a better chance with eating the eel.
My recommendation would also be to make sure you know where you are going to put these guys in a couple years (maybe more) when they start to outgrow this tank.

can't edit sorry, actually the aro will get longer tan the cat as I think now.

Anyway, at the sizes your talking about, you should be fine for sometime.
