Agree, definitely two different fish. Do you know where they were collected?

I used to have true freshwater sole cynoglossus sp.It lived with australian desert gobies in 80 litres tank.iT died because i had bad substrate in a tank....but i had it 8 months.

I really want to know what kind of flounder this guy is Im confident one species I have is saltwater. The other species is thriving and goes after food right when it hits the water.

A saltwater species most likely. Juveniles of some species live in brackish waters, moving to marine waters with age. Knowing collection point would help. This is a left eye flounder (fluke), so that can narrow your search some. Your pics are close enough so you can count fin rays- this will also help to id.
perhaps a summer flounder. Are you on/near the east coast of the US?

It also looks like the lateral line is curved, another trait of summer flounders.
