Ok,... I've gone past this fish a thousand times on our list however I'm still skeptical it's not brackish. What can you tell me about Achirus lineatus

Based off that, I'd say that is not a freshwater-compatible fish. I'm sure they can SURVIVE in freshwater for extended periods, but I also wouldnt consider a fish in such conditions to be healthy.
The freshwater-tag your lfs has on that fish is clearly just an unethical selling tool.

Hi Waldo, I used to get these flat fish at wal-mart. They used to be called hogchokers in old new england area. They were fed to hogs for food. They start off fresh water and go salt with age. I had many die untill I treated their tank for fungus with salt. (one of thier tank mates was ill).Waldo said:
