I've grown them from larvae to about 10", I doubt you'll see them much bigger. I catch them from time to time in the streams where I live. To live long lives I think they need at least slightly salted water. Ten to twenty percent sea water would be better but they will live in straight marine after they get to be adults. Most pet shops carry them from time to time. The ones in most pet stores come from Florida. They tend to not do well unless they get lots of live food, live black worms and daphnia are good. They have really small mouths compared to real flounders (they are soles) They will eat fish food but seldom live more than a year or so, other fish tend to take food away from they before they can get it and since they don't usually go after regular fish with much enthusiasm this can lead to problems. With good food and water quality I would think they might live several years, five at least.

too bad there in Ohio. I would get em but the shipping would be a fortune for 2.50$ fish. I have a gravel 10g with guppies galore, they would do good in there eating baby guppies. But sand would be more realistic for them

Flounders are definitely hard to find, we get them in on occasions here at our shop.
Many people that come in trip out on the fish and always ask "is the fish is real?"
Haha. They are very good at catching guppies when you feed them, man too bad I forgot to take some vid clips of them eating the guppies up :P
