Freshwater Hermitcrab?

My little brother was at a local lake swimming once and said that he found a hermitcrab in the water. My brother isn't the best person to trust but is he maybe telling the truth? He said that there where legs and eyes in the shell. So if anybody can help that would be great because I want to get one. What's the best way to catch theso called freshwater hermitcrabs.

I don't know of any freshwater crabs, except the ones I leave behind.

I've never heard of a freshwater hermit crab, but ya never know.

hermit crabs are saltwater.. so no he didnt unless he found it onland

Good question, ive seen some for sale in a local LFS here and it was in a tank on the fresh water section, but im not really sure whther it as fresh or salt water kind and i didnt really ask. But i'll try to go back and investigate,since i saw them a few months ago..i'll just post what i find out....

He's lying. Only one species of freshwater hermit crab is known to exist; it is native to Vanuatu.
