ok so has anyone ever got an freshwater lionfish to take pellets? and how would i do this. if you haven't kept one you don't know how hard it is to get them to even eat a dead fish

The only thing I have been able to get mine to eat( Besides live) is fresh raw market shrimp. Just skewer or hold it with some tongs and dance it around like a fish. It took me about a month and a half of starving my large one of and on till he took it. My smaller started eating it immediately.
Patience is key and good luck!!

Try fasting it for a few days and then try brushing the dead food against the mouth area, if that fails try a gentle whack. It will hopefully strike instinctively out of hunger or in the latter case out of aggression.

as was said they will mot switch over to pellets. you can get them over to prekilled though with a lot of patience. good luck
