Anybody know anything about them? I just bought one. It is about 6".
Is it true they are poisonful?

I had one for about 2 years I am the only one I know of thats ever kept one alive that long he grew to around 8-9in. long on a diet of live ghost shrimp, BIG goldfish, HUGE crayfish, and earthworms he stayed hidden in his little rock cave the entire time I had him believe or not he was kept in a 110g. the whole time I had him I had the 110 setup changed several times over that 2 year period BIG CA/SA cichlids including a 14in. dovii, a 10in. red devil, 11in. festea, 11in. Vieja Argentea, 12in. Synspilum, a Red Tail Cat, 4 diff. Polypterus species and the freshwater lion kept the same cave the entire 2 years BECAUSE OF HIS VOICE anytime anybody swam to close to his cave he GRUNTED very deep and loud as he got bigger his grunting got louder whatever swam in his cave SHOT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TANK quick fast and in a hurry VERY COOL FISH

O BY THE WAY the salt content in that tank was kept fairly high just for his sake I still to this day don't no how I got away with all those fish living in BRACKISH WATER

I LOVE FRESHWATER LION FISH HENCE MY NAME FWLION

I have an Allenbatrachus grunniens (Grunting Toadfish) which is around 9"-10". Had him Since Nov 2005 and he is doing great. Kept purely fresh water, I did have two and got a spawn but sadly the female died after the spawn and no fry :( No idea if they are poisonous or not and I don't have any intention of finding out :grinno:
