Hey, I know about Saltwater Liverock, but I was considering, if possible, getting some freshwater liverock. Anyone know of some online places I can buy some?!? Or is there some type of freshwater liverock? Any help would be great!

*Looks for Guppy to come save the day with his ever so helpful advice*

Come on Guppy tell me something good.. ALL HAIL GUPPY!

Lava Rock with a nice current flowing over it could be considered "FW Liverock" I suppose. That is one of the filtration methods that was used in making that 50,000g tank in the articles section.

P's are skittish though, anything like that and you would probably scrape up your Ps..

I have not seen anything sold as fresh water live rock but tufa might work, as would lava rock, but as Miles said you would risk scraped up fish as they are abrasive. You would also need a good oxygenated flow of water through it.

Ok, My setup would more than cover what I need, I have a MaxiJet 1200 submerssible w/ a 50gal air pump going to it. and an 80gal ait pump mixed into the filters. I also have 3 filters, 1 80 gal filter and two 50 gal filters. AquaClear brand. As far as the abrasive side of things go, not to sound retarded, but if I were to take the time to sand it down so the edges were not sharp, but rather smooth, would that take care of the Scrapping possibility?!

guppy makes a great point as always.... Tufa rock will raise ur PH where as Larva rock will lower it.. all in all FW live rock, there is no such thing in the aquarium feild, i am not saying it don't exsist cuz i know there are fresh water shrimp and inverts, them crttiers live there
but in saltwater live rock is a world of critters

filter beds is a different subject all to geather
if u ever get some pls post pic's

lol but yes LIVE wood

I and thinking along the lines now of like lava rock and java moss with java ferns, if I can get a tall peice with a hole in the middle or so.. I think that would be a good substitute
