Freshwater moray eel question.

Ok guys I saw a freshwater moray eel at my local fish store, when I inquired about it being brackish he said nope they can live in completely freshwater. He even went on to say he kept one in a 30 gal tank with some freshwater flounder for almost 3 years. So I really liked this little guy, and went home and did some research and found almost every article refers to them as brackish water fish. Has anyone kept these guys in only freshwater. Oh on a side note this was not a snowflake eel.

there is one freshwater moray. its name escapes me but it is a leopard color, if the one you saw is grey it is g.tile and very brackish

It was a sandy grey color.

Gymnothorax tile and Echidna rhodochilus are often sold as "freshwater" but is best kept in brackish water.
