Does anyone have experience with the freshwater moray called the white cheek moray? My lfs store has one about 10" long in a tank with "some" salt in it. It seems to be an Echidna rhodochilus. It has a plain dark background color with a green tint matching the photo on FishBase. Was wondering if they can be acclimated to full strength saltwater? Fishbase and WetWebMedia say the max size is about 13". Anyone have one larger than this?
There's no such thing as a freshwater moray eel. Some species will travel to freshwater when young. However, their systems demand increasing salt levels as they age until they're full marine as adults. Do a search on "moray" or "eel". I posted a few long care bios on different morays that are sold in FW when young, including the white cheek eel.
some people claim that snowflakes can b kept in brackish conditions there whole lif mine is in a fresh water tank and doing well but i am worried that i might have to aclimate him to a marine tank soon so any advice on that????????????????
I would slowly begin acclimating him to brackish and then marine conditions. I would start doing that as soon as possible. Eels venture into freshwater for short times, but they cannot live their entire lives there.
