Yes, but maybe not all of it's life.
Please have a good look at the stickys and a lot of the other threads as ph is not that important as long as stable.
Make no mistake, these are demeaning fish, if you do not do weekly water changes you WILL run in to issues and you need to know water quality inside out....ammonia, ph, nitrite and nitrate are all very important...once you get it right then nitrate will be your enemy.
Do not they to do it cheap as it does not work IMO, these things eat like a son or daughter!
