Freshwater salt?

I was wondering if you should use freshwater and water conditioners with rays? I currently am using both and am upgrading to a 8'X10'X3' pond and was wondering if they are needed.

I keep some salt as a tonic in my tank with my rays. never had a problem

I would usually keep salt in my tank.... and I always use prime or ultimate for conditioning my water....

For large systems I have always used water softner salt...you can get 40# bags for like $4 at walmart. Never used them on rays though. I suppose it would be safe...afterall it is just salt.

So you dont need to use aquarium grade salt..., you can use table salt as long as it is iodine free or kosher???

Yes. Salt is salt. NaCl, it doesnt matter if it is "aquarium grade" or not.

So this will work? Sounds good to me. Its cheaper too. The wife might be upset I'm using all her cooking salt. Nice!
