About 4 months ago I added a "Banded Sculpin" (Cottus Carolinae) to an existing freshwater tank. It turned out to be quite the ambush predator and I love the camo this fish has.

Has anyone ever kept these fish and if so, have you ever been able to ween them from live food (feeders, baby crawfish) ?

I noticed he is a little fond of crab meat but some normal type of fish food would be great. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do not mean to double post, but I just realized this should have gone under the Native/North American section. Could a mod please move to appropriate section?

Sorry guys.

How long did it take your sculpin to adapt/ween? I keep some small feeders in the tank, but I have ever noticed it eating the crab meat.

Do you think it is "sneaking" and eating any other foods and I have just not noticed it?

well honestly there is not much she does not eat..or didn't take the first time i dropped it in...other then flakes she hates those,

i got her around 1.2 inches maybe smaller and now she is around 4.
i had a few adults earlier in the summer and they didn't adapt well to the tank..i lost to pretty quickly and the third didn't last much longer...the younger seem to be adapt to the tank better,

she has a content cloud of guppy fry, around 1/4-1/2 inch in the tank at all times, and would eat 3 times a day if i fed her, she will go threw about 20 guppy fry on top of all of her food in about a week.

he could be sneaking..i would say stop feeding anything live for a few days,,they are bottomless pits and a day or two of fasting should get it to gobble up anything that drops in front of its face.....

make sure your tank has allot of water surface movement for high DO..its really key to keeping these guys happy...and cold water
