State of chaos
I saw fishing with roland martin on vs and he was in venice, bass fishing. they encountered Lmbs's, Gator Gar, Redfish, and...a Sheepshead? A BIG Sheepshead Seabream came up that took a Craw Tube Jig. Even more surprising than a Sheepshead on a lure is in freshwater! Not a Drum...it was in Florida. It was a Sheepshead. I didn't know they coukd live in freshwater! I didn't know any Sparids could.
Info plz?

They have Sheepshead in lake Erie. I was in Cleveland Ohio fishing RockyRiver or some name like that, We were catching Sheepsheads and large carp, The sheep were only in the area of 5 pounds and the carp were up to 22 pounds. That is were I caught my largest carp at.
I asked all the locals what the fish were and they all said Sheepshead.
I wish I took pic's of them.

Not uncommon to catch LMB along side other salt/brackishwater species. Nothing special at all. My buddy was down in LA sampling a few weeks ago and in one sample a 30lb blue cat, some small LMB and bluegill, mullet, redfish, and a gator all came up at once!

Sheephead is a common name for a few species of fish. The Lake Erie ones are freshwater drum. There are also saltwater sheephead and I believe that is what he's referring to. We caught several freshwater drum while sampling for an ichthyology field class I just took. Our largest was about 12 lbs.
