Ugh.....its not an MTS, although it does the same things as one....Melanoides granifera....that's what it is....spiked trumpet snail is the common name as far as I can tell.
Not bad for a planted tank, actually, I make a point to keep them in my tanks because they keep the substrate from going aerobic by shifting through it.
The only snail I know of that's really a problem would be apple snails....simply because they eat plants. But you don't really see those anymore, although some people do call mystery snails apple snails (which, technically they are, but the species we call mystery snails are totally plant safe, I can say from experience and from others experience as well...P. bridgesi)
