Hello all,
In the last 30 years, I have worked with population dynamic of freshwater stingray in Amazon basin. My current research is in mortality rate (natural, fishery, climatic changes, post-capture) mainly of Negro and Tapajós River species such as Potamotrygon wallacei (used to be Potamotrygon cf histrix), P. motoro, P. orbignyi, P. schroederi, P. jabuti, P. albimaculata and Paratrygon aiereba.
I would like ask you all, if you data about mortality of these species in captivity mainly Potamotrygon wallacei. I would like to estimate the mortality rate and longevity of this species in captivity. I will appreciate any help, and I will love to know your expertise about the subject.
I hope hear from you.

Interesting! Let me mine the memory banks for some information on my P. wallacei. I purchased wild caught individuals and had some captive bred specimens.

Thank you to everyone who answer me. I will be waiting for any help to my question. In wild population the natural mortality of P. wallacei can vary with age, the longevity estimates is around 16 years.

I have an adult female that I purchased as wild caught pup in 2009 alive and healthy still. I had a wild caught adult male for 10 years (no idea how old he was when I got him) until a heater accident killed him ?

Hi everyone,
I need a picture of P. wallacei (Brazilian histrix) to put in an article about my field trip to assess the population status of the species. I just have pictures of the animals in nature. So, or they are buried in sand and leaves, and during the night, I do not have a good picture because of the darkness. So, I need a picture of where the color pattern of the species is exhibited. Let me know.
