yea i allso heard that it helps them clean there gils is this true??? i have to of them and have a sand substrate for them i was just wondering what is best for them
Some do sand, some bare bottom, some tile...its preferance. Personally I have white sand and I think the rays enjoy diggin around in it and being able to bury themselves. It is a chore to keep up with though where as bare bottom or tile would be much easier.
I couldn't imagine keeping a ray without sand after seeing how many hours of enrichment mine gets out of it. But if you have a large colony of rays they would probably keep each other busy
Its a personal choice, but for me i like it to be close to natural, when you see how rays enjoy sand, and they are made for sand, you can easely see that from their behaviour, so i would never do anything else but sand!
yea i have sand in my tank now is there some seceret to keeping it clean?? i had black sand and white mixed to gether the white sand was finer then the black sand and seemed to be floating in the water so i have vacumed out all the white sand and it seemed to be a lot cleaner then the white sand..
