I am posting this query for my husband (I know it's been awhile since I've been here). His cats came down with ick. He removed them from the ray pond and quarantined the cats for treatment. A few days later noticed that some of the rays have ick. We know this is rather rare but was hoping for some solid advice on how to deal with this. We know how sensitive the rays are to the typical ick medicine (which is why the cats were removed to be treated). He was thinking of temporarily raising the temp and possible the salinity but wanted to know if anyone has had to deal with this with their rays and had a successful outcome.

im sure ive used esha exit before with rays in the tank.
i will confirm it for you.

ide turn off any lights, raise the temp abit and add some salt.

raising the temp only speeds up the life cycle of the ich, turning the lights off will make it sightly harder for the ich to find a fish to stick to, adding a light dose of salt will help with the stress.

never seen a ray with ich.

if you run a uv on your pond this would also help as it will kill free swimming ich what get sucked threw.

esha is ray friendly ive used it at work with rays many times
although i hear esha is not making meds anymore so not sure on availability
protozin is also safe with rays
good luck

This is why I love this community. :)

seachem paraguard is ray safe as well...

Joe appreciates all the responses. He's going to check out the suggested meds but I do have a quick question. We've never heard of ESHA. Is that a specific med or a manufacturer?
