I'm new to the sump idea and I think it is a great idea.

I wan't to build a sump for my 30 gallon and would like to see your ideas on this and a few tips please.

there is a few ways to do it, some pics and stuff in the DIY section. the way im going to do it is

buy a rubbermaid drawer set. like the ones that are stacked with 3 drawers
drill a big hole in the top of it for a hose to run from the tank to the tote, drill a bunch of small holes in the first drawer for a drip system, and maybe throw some filter floss in there. drill holes in the seconds on and fill it with sponges or scrubbies or something. and then in the third one is where water will collect to be pumped back up into the tank, will have to put a submersible pump in there to pump it back up. cheap, ez, and effective

You can just put the pump in the tote and use the bottom drawer for more bio-media.

i like how chompers did that, thats the exact same drawer set i have lol. yeah juneblood3 i didn't think of that.
so pretty much u could have the water filter 3 times before it pumps back into the tank. would be able to use 3 diff types of media. only ones i know i can use is the filter floss which i have a huge roll of i got from my old job. then some sponges in the seconds drawer. the only thing that has me a little puzzled about it is

1. the tank is 130g i think, i want to try to pump 1,000 gph threw it. so do i just buy a 1000 gph pump to put in the tote and it should all work out?

2. my tank isn't drilled for an over flow and i dont plan on drilling it, so can i just take some pvc pipe and make something like

i think, im not sure, but i THINK that u could add a spray bar on that also if u wanted to. i might be wrong. in theory im thinking that u could either put a Y in the pipe running back up to the tank from the pump or add a seconds smaller pump, take a peice of pvc pipe and cap one end, drill holes in it, and connect it to a pipe and should have a spray bar. if im wrong about that then someone correct me.
