I think the tilapia you are talking about is the common Commercially produced tilapia, which can live both in FW & SW

Found out today that this fish can live in either FW or African Cichlid water,they get about a foot long and are pretty peacful (or so they say?).

This guy is pretty laid back,i think it is called a "Blue Tilapia".
