In my early 20s I became friends with Kurtis W.,,,,,He was one of the few friends I ever got close with that also was hooked on aquariums.Coming from a low income family he just seemed to always have a dark cloud fallowing him but would never stop trying to make it go away.He had epilepsy so getting jobs was hard and getting a license to drive was out of the question. He was always up to help ppl in need despite his several surgeries on each shoulder from the seizures.Good looking dude, very kind,a bit arrogant at times but then he would have days when he would just rag on himself with humor. Very book smart, street smart, and sometimes a smart ass.We could go to breeders homes or LFS and just talk fish for hours.Always redoing eachothers tanks. Helping with water changes and having some brews. He has a little girl around 10 and brothers and sis.Back in the day they had lost everything in a house fire but the family and friends kept spirits alive and they pulled through. This last few years he has been promoting concerts in my town like social D and such, other big festivals too.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Today he was going to the dentist,he was put under, had a seizure and then came out of it,then right into heart failure.I dont know too many details yet but you guys dont know him anyways. However, this was still a great and sad shock to me and hundreds of friends in this town.He got me into cichlids. He loved them and could just sit and watch them for hours because it would relax the brain for his problem. He kept a rosy barb in with all his Malawi's in the 125 because it was his daughters favorite fish.Man anything can happen at anytime.Love your friends,if you got issues, deal with them or at least agree to disagree.I loved this guy, didnt hang as much anymore but thats just life, now he is gone and was the only guy who shared those fun fish times with me and I wont be able to talk about those with him ever again. We did however transform another friend and he too is broken over this.Hopefully that will get us close again. You guys, thanks for reading,he was a savior to many many fish in need over the years.Sleep it off brother, love ya KURT.No more seizures.
