In the garage
I just caught these three bullfrogs while emptying our pond. One of them has something wrong with its tongue. They were just coming out of hibernation when I caught them. Any idea what to do?

Never mind, he fixed it himself. I just hope there wont be any lasting damage.

he looks like the one from the commercial goin "WWWWWAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPP"

frog tongue... that sounds like some sort of witches potion ingredient...

Looks more like he reguritated his stomach.

Frogs are unable tp "puke" so to speak so if they eat something unpleasant they will invert their stomach. Normally fixes itself.

^^ That's what I was thinking Kearth...

Isn’t it also true that some frogs are not plumbed to poop and they empty their stomachs after digesting by regurgitating their stomach? I do not believe this is true with common Bull Frogs but is an amusing frog fact I’ve read…

I dont think it was his stomach because they havn't eaten in a couple of months. I literaly woke them up from hibernation by accident. We're digging a new pond this year. When we took the old one out, these three frogs were slowly moving around under it. They're much more awake now, but I'm not sure what to do with them. I have nowhere to put them.

Stress can cause them to invert their stomachs as well... That is not a bullfrog tongue at all. i still stand by my original opinion. I have had a couple frogs do this and that is exactly what it looks like.

Can you house them until you get the new pond built? Bull frogs have an instinct to return to the same waters that they morphed in.

Were the store bought or WC? if there are store bought it is not a good idea to release them. You could infect the native wildlife with dieases or parasites that they are not use to.

I have never heard of the non pooping frogs but you peeked my curiosity and i will be looking to see if I can find anything.

Well you probably know more about frogs than me. I caught them when they still had a little tail left. We set up the old pond and put them back in there until I can get a temporary enclosure set up. What would be a good size enclosure for three large bullfrogs for about two months?
