I have a 800 gallon koi pond outside that has 10 top notch Koi from a local Koi fanatic. Well they started produce babies this year. There has been 2 spawns that I know of. I have only spotted 4 babies from the first spawn and they are about 2 inches long. Today I noticed 1 baby less than an inch long which tells me there might be more. My pond stays in full sunlight but is over half covered with lillies and hyacinth. The water is green because my UV burned out. My question which my sound silly but I have adopted 3 spotted pond frogs and as of yesterday a bull frog. Of course they love to show up on there own. I am worried they are eating all the babies especially the bull frog. How can you rid an outdoor pond of frogs short of diving in to catch them? Is their some secret additive you can add like gasoline to get rid of the frogs and not the koi? The gasoline was a joke by the way. Any info?

I don't know of any amphibian specific pesticides, and would strongly discourage using one if you did find it. The risk of harming your koi and your environment is high, especially in a karst area like southern KY (I'm in northern TN, in the same karst formation). Anything you spray around here goes quickly into the groundwater and into local wells, springs, and streams without the benefit of soil filtration.

You could catch the frogs one by one, but honestly I wouldn't worry about the frogs if I were you.

Large bullfrogs can and will eat fish, but they aren't very good at catching them. Only sickly, dying, or trapped baby koi would be vulnerable. The frogs will also prey on dragonflies, diving beetles, water bugs, fishing spiders, and other invertebrate predators that are good at catching baby fish, so they may well improve your babies' chances of survival.

Actually had no clue when they bred except the local breeder here told me that the water gets foamy when they do breed. I had a period for about 2 weeks where it looked like I had soap in my water. About 1/3 of the pond had foam on top of it. I figured there were 2 spawns because of the size difference in the babies.

Noto, good suggestions, I am going to let nature do it's thing.

You could fish them out...

A small fly, mini-mite, or small twister will entice a bite.
