So I have recently noticed that my frogspawn occasionally has one extremely long tentacle, Im talking about 3-5 inches longer than the others. I didnt really think much of it until the other day when I saw something peculiar the sand of the tank. It looked like a small "ball" of frogspawn that was bright green and slightly orange. The ball was about 1/4 the size of a pencil eraser and was being blown around the tank. It did land on my leather and burn it pretty bad :irked: but its recovering in the QT tank. These balls have been produced about twice a week for the past two weeks, anyone have any idea what the frogspawn is doing? water params are perfect, etc etc. The frogspawn itself shows no signs of distress or sickness. Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Sometimes you will see tentacles get long and stringy like this...I dont think it is a method of reproduction.

I have actually had euphyillia sp. spawn in my tanks before...they will actually dump eggs out into the h2o.

I was lucky enough to be sitting in front of the tank when this happened and got some pictures....I will see if I can dig them up.

just realized i never responded to your response lol. Anyway the frogspawn isnt doing the long tentacle thing anymore so I have no idea what it was doing lol. anyway check out my other post fleshy, need some assistance on the sump, etc.

that is awesome!!!!!!!!

It's probably using that long tentacle as a sweeper tentacle. They will send out sweeper tentacles sometimes when hungry n in search of food, or combating other corals for domain. Pretty certain thats what it is, they get them quite often. Hope that helps.
