Well today I decided to change my 280 up a little. It was bare bottom and I don't think my ray enjoyed that to much. So I decided to put sand in it. I drained my 280 into my 75 gallon tank and I put my 6 pbass and 1 motor ray in it. Now I have sand in the 280 and it is full of water.

I'm pretty sure it will go through it's cycle stage, but how long will it take? I'm running an FX5 and I left the old media in it to help cycle it faster. Any ideas? I'll post pics tomorrow.

Thx in advance!!

Why would it cycle? If the filtration is still working, you just added to the tank, but you didn't remove anything

Even though it's 100% new water?

My test kit says other wise. Ammonia is 4.0-8.0 everything else looks good

Yeah the new water and the whole water change process most likely killed off some of the BB. Just let is cycle. Maybe add the fish slowly starting with the smallest ones first and add a few every day or so.

Great choice on adding sand. How big are those peacock bass? If it's like a foot long I won't even worry about cycle.

Yep let it run its cycle.. what kind of sand did you do???
Play ground sand from lowes. I cleaned it real good and put it in. Never clouded up!!!!! I was happy lol

Why do this? I don't want any of them to be stressed. I would rather wait till the water is right.

One is a foot or so. The other 5 r 8-10 inches. (educated guess)

Well they didnt kill each other in the 75 gallon yet. any ideas on how long it will take tondo it's cycle?

If there are no fish in the tank, and the water is all new, why would you have ANY ammonia? If you are cycling the tank you will need to have SOME ammonia either by adding the fish slowly as suggested or by various other methods. I'd check out the stickies on the nitrogen cycle.
