Hey All...

I just wanted to start this thread where people can share their experience in fish keeping from fry to their adult stage, what are all the fishes you have kept and for how long... Honestly speaking me being a started I don't have exactly any fries right now... but I do have community tank setup.. Hope you guys do like to share though....

thanks... :)

Well, I like to start all my fish at least from juvies or smaller, and grow them myself. Except for my Aspidoras albaters, Aspidoras spilotus and BN Plecos, all of my fish have come here as babies. And even those aforementioned have spawned and I can tell you, the ones I have now have all been born here.

Angelfish, Severums, Rhino Plecos and on and on, all started here very small.

Best way to sum it:

Buy a growout tank...........Usually a 20g is used..........I use 4 foot 55-60g tanks.........Bare tank means no gravel, just glass bottom..........This way no food/excretment/fry get trapped between any substrate.......The best filter for the first month is the air stone.......The air stone aggitates the water enough to create oxygen, just connect it to your favorite air filter.......The air stone also does not suck up and blow the fry all over the place.....For the first 2-3 weeks, do 50% water changes.........For the first 5-8 weeks, feed fry baby brine shrimp...........BBS will speed up the growing process.............Keep the tank at 78-80 degrees.........Cichlid I growout are ready for sale/trade within 6-9 weeks........
