Do you think a 1 inch lip is enough for the glass to rest against? 1 inch doesn't leave a lot of area to silicone but its that or overkill with a 2 inch lip (2x4 instead of 2x3) which will cut down on the size of the viewing window. as I mentioned before the height is 30 inches so it will come out to 28 or 26inches respectively, any advice/ideas would be appreciated.

oh ya if it makes a difference the glass thickness is gonna be 12mm or 15mm depending on the cost.

Garf.org recomends 2" lip for the glass. 2" is really not that much and is not overkill. You want the most surface possible when sealing in the glass, and also holding back 3200 pounds of water.

thanks for the reply john, thats what I was leaning towards anyways becouse of fear of the seal giving way, thanks for your input.

Havn't been here all day so I didn't see this. On my 315G build, I used a 2x4 as the frame and then used a 2x3 inside that to set my glass. Worked great. I thing there are picsof it on by build thread.
