Hey guys so I have a 10" wild caught male Burundi in my 75 with a few other africans and a small bichir. My front seems to be very shy and it took him a few weeks to even eat. Anyways so i have a fake hollow log in my tank and he just stays in it all day and only comes out around night time. The other problem is that when i open the top to put food in he bolts into his log and by the time he comes back out most of the foods gone. So should i take the log out and replace it with something like a simple rock formation or just leave him be?
Thanks guys,

Heff

Just take the log out. Same think happen to my 10'' front but with the fake plant. Took the fake plants out, Non stop swimming from my 10'' front.

i dunnoz.. he might be just shy because wherever u bought it from, he may be the alpha male in that tank! alpha male are shy and only comes out to eat and then go back into their hiding space. Like my 6 inch fronts, he is alpha and all he does it hide in the clay pot and comes out when theirs food.. also, do you feed them with the light? cause front dont like light.. for them to get use to the light, you have to leave it on for a couple of hour everyday.. that what i did and my front arent as shy anymore.. it can be that or it just intimated by the other fish because he not use to it.. but if you take out the log, all ur fish is gonna fight for territory and may cause them to be stress. hopes this help..

Well when he does come out of the log he goes crazy for food no matter when i put in and i usually put food in before i go to bed so ya.. I just took the log out and replaced it with some rocks and he seems calm except for hes breathing kinda heavy and my adult Pseudotropheus demasoni has headbutted him a few times
