Frontosa as single fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
but, can a frontosa be alone, without other fishes, and not die?

I was changing of mind, what do you think about a Tilapia buttikoferi as single fish for the same tank?

Keeping the Tilapia buttikoferi alone is the best idea, but NOT in 55 gallon tank! I highly recommend researching the fish.

i have the same question. can they be alone in a mixed community tank? i mean not in a school but rather a solitary front. along with other fish. how would it behave?

I've had Frontosa for a while, but in a colony. I am sure you could keep one by itself, but I have never seen it.

If you want a single bigger fish, try a Flowerhorn. Either way, I agree with the other posters.....you will eventually need a bigger tank.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Flowerhorn would be a good fish to keep in solitary environment.

But if you are insistent on the Frontosa, you can try it. I mean I don't think it's going to die being kept by itself. But it might not be the happiest fish.

Right on....my Frontosa colony get along fine and my FH hates every living thing

I live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, here it's not easy to get a flowerhorn, I have King Midas in a similar aquiarium, but I want other fish for my other aquarium, I was thinking in frontosa because they develop a big hump, I like that.
