does anyone know if they will breed with other types of fish in the same tank?

I’ve never seen them cross breed with another species of fish. But they will breed with other Frontosa variants so be careful.

They are genetially too far away from most other species. The only genus I would not be surprised if they mix with Cyphotilapia is their sister genus Trematochromis.

Another way of interpreting his question is whether housing other species with Frontosa will inhibit them from breeding. And, in my experience, the answer can be yes. Frontosa need to be the kings of the tank (or better alone) or they won't spawn successfully. More aggressive Haps or other species can bully them.

As for hybridization between Cyphotilapia and another genus? Nope. Although, as others have noted, variants and species within Cyphotilapia will cross readily (not desirable).
