how many frontosas could i put in a 125 gallon?
I was thinking about setting up a 125 african cichlid tank and i wondered if i put like 15 2 inch frontosas in it and sold them off as they paired?
good idea? bad idea?

They don't really "pair" from what I've experienced. They need to have some sort of balance which seems to be completely random ratios of male to female. I have 7 unsexed fronts in my 125 and I feel that they're cramped for space. The oldest is about 3.5 years old and I'm planning on moving them to my 265 soon. They could still do well in the 125 for a while, but I think they would appreciate the extra room.

I have 7 in my 125gal.. they have been growing and healthy for the past three years.. but i am thinking of selling off a couple.. hate to break up the peace ful colony but like rally mentioned the more growing room they have the better... and these guys although very slow growing do get big... so eventually i will have to sell them all or upgrade...

sooooo...
r u guys saying u dont like fronts or it wont work out?

i love my frontosa... and you will too... and 7 would be fine in a 125gal for a few years.. but eventually you would have to deduct that number.. or increase size of tank for them.. and of course if you find a couple of males you may have to sell them off just because of aggression... later as they mature.. so yes go for it... but just keep this in mind for future.. :D:Dbut 15 would be too many.. and you won't be able to tell sex for a long long time.. and just by venting..

I'm planning on doing the same exact thing, and then ending with maybe 3 or 4full grown fronts in a 125g. 1 male and 2 or 3 females.
:)

Boy thats soo true. The best news about Fronts is that they are such slow growers. That way you can worry about tank size eventually! LOL
