One of my friends is hell bent on putting demasoni and frontosa into his 125 gallon tank he wants 5+ demasoni and 3 frontosa Demasoni are 2" right now and frontosa at the store are around 3" he plans on putting lots of Choya wood and white sand and stacked slate rock. How bad of an idea will this be?

BAD. demasoni is one of the most agressiv fish from lake malawi.
it can stress the fontosat to dead... and again the demasoni wont get much bigger .

and fronttosa will grow to 18" pretty fast if you change water offen and feed em well (the demasoni will be food at that point)

Frontosas are slow growers and do not reach 18 inches. The median length is around 12" with some slightly bigger and some slightly smaller. The largest I have seen is around 13 inches and it was old as balls.

It is not advisable to mix the two together. The Demasoni can stress the fronts to death. However it has been done with mixed results.

I would not recommend it.

I would worry about the demasoni killing each other. With only 5 he is likely to end up with 1. They are very aggressive to one another and unless they are stocked in high numbers (12+) they tend to kill each other off. I think they would also be aggressive towards the fronts because the fronts have a similar stripe pattern. I would also worry about the fronts not getting enough food because demasoni are aggressive eaters. Not to mention the dietary differences.
