Just got a 8 " burundi frontosa:nilly: and I wanted to know to know what I should feed him. I fed him krill and he didn't like that so I tried feeding earthworms and he took those but didn't seem to especially like them. Also what foods will help with brighten the blue on my front
thanks

this thread has a lot about fronts if you read it you will find a lot of information including some feeding information for members here... When looking for informaiton asking is just one way to get it. Do not forget to use the search feature using key words and checking to see if any recent post have the information. Asking is still an option, but you find out a lot without having to wait the others as well... Hope that link helps, any other question feel free to ask as well...

Use high quality foods such as Omega One, Hikari, New Life Spectrum and Dainichi, etc. They will give your frontosa excellent color.

Get your front a high protien sinking pellet. Mine love to eat sinking pellets and will often go hungry if i try to feed a floating one. You can also ask the person you bought it from what diet they had it on.

Colors can often be improved by putting in black sand or gravel (sand is best IMO) and also painting the back glass black with regular black latex paint and a normal rollar (2 or 3 coats is all thats needed usually). It really improved my color on the fronts. I also use a double light strip and have a normal white aquarium light in the front and a marine glow bulb in the back. THe marine glo bulb has alot of light in the blue spectrum. If you go with both bulbs marine glo the tank will have a very blue look to the water like a salt tank but it washes out any oranges and yellows if you have other fish in your tank.

PM me if you want to see some before and after shots of my fronts showing lighting differences and the painting background/sand differences. Its quite amazing the improvement in color proper lighting and decor can make. It wont make a poorly colored fish look good but will definetly make a good looking fish look spectacular.

For some reason I never had trouble feeding my fronts or any other fish, they seem to like the flakes and pellets. I do agree that you should try sinking pellets instead of floating ones. If you do have floating ones soak them in water first before feeding it to them.
They would eventually like the food that you have once they don't have any other options. They would get used to it.

Mine loves market shrimp and frozen krill. He never says no to pellets though.

ive been feeding my frontosas and cichlids spirulina ONLY for about a year. i started because i wanted to enhance the frontosas colors and i really think it works.

but do not trust me because ive also read that spirulina enhancing blue colors is a myth or does not work as well as expected. its also not recommended because they do eat meat in the wild and very little to no green food.

there doesnt seem the be any problems with the diet im giving them although i really think my 2 year old front should be bigger than 2.5 inches. all my burundi fronts have very nice blue colors though.

Mine love market shrimp.
