Hi my frontosa is being really stupid. He is moving the pebbles all around the tank in his mouth. Well he is more like digging in one spot and piling all the rocks on the other side of the tank. Also he is in a trance whenever I turn the light on he just goes under a pice of drift wood and does not move but when I turn the light off he is back to work moving rocks. Oh and he is not really eating. Thanks

what size tank is it in? it's normal for them to dig.he may feel threatened.he may not like the food,or water conditions.have you moved he/she or handled it recently?

Frontosa behavior is to move rocks and pepples.. and build a fort.. they are shy because in their natural environment they are almost in darkness because they live deep in the waters of the lake.. they are used to living in colonys .. not single like yours.. please read up on the frontosa in forum of african rift cichlids and you will learn alot more.. also do not feed floating food to frontosa..they do not come up to the surface like other african cichlids.. they eat food from the ground.. sinking pellets..

If you have the guy who sold you the tank and frontosas' number text or call him and ask him what he fed

75 gallons is too small for fully grown frontosas, but you can keep a number of smaller in there. How big is yours?
